Tymbark.
Thank immigration for the never dull, always changing, cheap as chips Polish section in Tesco. One thing I dislike about basically all the Eastern European supermarkets is the amount of western brands they sell. I go to these places to try and find something new and weird, especially in the drink/confectionary areas and it annoys the hell outta me when all I can find is Mars bars, Spanish wine, UK vodka and worst of all coke and pepsi. Fuck that shit. I want Kofola and 3-Bits and Croatian spirits.
So on a recent trip to Tesco I decided to splash out on Tymbark, priced at a reasonable 59p, available in snazzy 250ml bottles and available in both Apple-mint and Black Cherry flavours.
I tried the Cherry apple first and it’s well tasty. Not too thick or sugary like a lot of still fruit drinks and it goes down well after an evening of door frame sanding, no unpleasant aftertaste and most importantly after chugging the lot your mouth and teeth do not feel like they have been coated in sugar syrup. The Apple-mint variety which I beat into me yesterday after stripping wall paper from behind the radiator in the kitchen is not as good as the black cherry, but is still awesome, the apple is not too tangy and the mint is subtle and not over powering. I was concerned it might be like drinking sugary mouthwash, but no. Well worth it after stripping the following from behind the radiator (lazy DIY bastard of a previous owner…):
1) Fake tiles, you know those padded tiles that are actually wall paper, but are made to look like tiles?
2) Huge horrendous green and yellow flowering wall paper, very mid 1970’s.
3) Red and Orange stripped paper, I would estimate early 1970’s or late 1960’s
4) Small green herb patterned paper, this was actually quit nice, my mum reckons it to be up from the 1950’s.
Are these Tymbark bevvies Recommended? – oh hell yes these are some smooth crisp refreshing bottles, well worth a trip to the ‘what the fuck‘ section of Tesco. I’m off to rip open a (better be tasty) Krowkowy Mleczny.
